We have with great joy been watching the Danish crime drama TV series Ørnen. It was a fantastic series and well worth the time invested. One of my favourite episodes was the one about the mining magnate and the complicated links via Norway and Paris to mercenaries etc in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Today I fell over this very long article describing the real world scenario and linkages of Blood diamond trade across the central African plains. It is really the wild west down there if even half of this stacks up. There really appears to be an international filthy rich and well connected power elite that seems to literally get away with murder. It is a bit rambling and there is almost as many names to keep track of as in Tolstoy’s War and Peace, but it is riveting reading never the less.
